High Aked Mill Stables
The original mill site

 

 

 

The purpose of this page is to show photos of every seal found at the High Aked mill stables. The seals found were few and far between and all were too late a date for the mill's operation date. It took Ged Dodd over another year of searching to find out where the lost seals had been dumped in the fields at Whinny Hill.
There were no female inspectors seals found at Whinny Hill fields.

The High Aked Stables Collection

The seals found at High Aked Mill at West End in North Yorkshire

were transported by horse and cart  from Hull Docks.

 Every bale of flax and hemp stems was fastened together with a lead seal by a quality inspector in Russia before shipping by sailing ship to Hull Docks. After processing the discarded stems of the flax and hemp with seals still attached were prized as fertilizer by local farmers and were spread onto the land mixed with night soil manure where they remain to be found even until today.
