Little Patrick Mill at West End
The purpose of this page.
Some two hundred years ago thousands of flax bales from
Russia, each with a seal attached, were imported via Hull
and were
transported by horse and cart to the Flax Mills
at West End in North Yorkshire. But Patrick Mill, Little
Patrick Mill and Low Mill were all lost under the waters of
Thruscross reservoir in the 1960's, however the flax seals
were spread with fertilizer on the field above the mill back
in the 1800's and
were located by Ged Dodd on the 12th September 2013.
These links are a step by step
explanation of the seals in the PeaceHavens Collection
which helped rewrite the books on Russian Flax Bale
Seals.
